Nine Men’s Swimmers to Represent Ohio State at NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Committee announced the swimmers who qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday (March 11), with seven individual qualifying berths and five qualifying relay times earned by Ohio State. The Championships will take place March 25-28 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Three swimmers qualified for single events including Sem Andreis (50 free), Jonah Cooper (100 back) and Hudson McDaniel (100 breast), while Noah Lense will swim in both the 100 fly and 200 fly. Paul DeLakis and Andrew Loy qualified for three individual events with both of them going head-to-head in the 200 IM and the 200 free. DeLakis will also be swimming in the 200 breast while Loy will compete in the 100 free. In addition to the seven individual qualifiers, Colin McDermott and Matthew Abeysinghe will be among the relay swimmers.

Ohio State’s seven qualifiers is the third-most of Big Ten teams. Out of 50 teams with selected swimmers, Ohio State ranks in the Top-10 with numbers of qualifiers.

Divers can qualify based on finished in all three events at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships, held Thursday through Saturday (March 12-14) in Lexington, Kentucky.
