Quoting Ohio state head coach Steve Rohlik
On the Buckeyes’ road success
“We seem to enjoy going on the road. Our guys love going out and love the competition. It’s a mindset they have right now.”
On the Buckeyes’ physical play
“At this time of year everything is going to be tight. They’re a very talented team. We really needed to take away time and space – that was kind of our key.”
On Mason Jobst’s play on the fourth goal
“That goal was a backbreaker. When you get to this time of year your big time players need to come through. He showed what he’s made of to get behind (their defenseman) and drive to the net. Fidler put it in the empty net, but that goal was all Mason.”
Quoting Buckeye senior defenseman Drew Brevig
“Everyone played a big part in tonight’s win. We feel good about a big road win, but we all know that tomorrow will be another huge game for our team.”
In the First …
Senior Drew Brevig had a hand in the Buckeyes’ two first period goals. He opened the scoring at 8:54, getting to a Badger clearing attempt and scoring on a wrist shot from the point. David Gust converted a lob pass from Brevig at 11:31, with the puck landing in the slot for Gust to convert for his 16th goal of the season. Shots were 8-7 in favor of Wisconsin in the period.
In the Second …
The Buckeyes extended their lead to 3-0 7:04 into the second. David Gust won the battle down low. At 9:44 the Badgers got on the board when Matt Ustaski scored on the power play from right in front.
