Men’s Lacrosse: Kelly Named to MLL All-Star Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

Boston, MA (July 3, 2008) Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, has announced those players who have been selected to play in the seventh annual Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 8:00 PM MT at Denver’s INVESCO Field at Mile High. The All-Stars were selected by the League’s head coaches, general managers and players.
Face-off specialist Anthony Kelly of the Los Angeles Riptide has been selected to play on the Western Conference All-Star team. This selection will be Kelly’s first All-Star game in his three seasons of Major League Lacrosse. The Columbus, Ohio native started every game in his four years at Ohio State University.
In 2006, Kelly was ranked second on the Riptide with 36 ground balls. He also won 52.4 percent of his face-offs. The following season he led the team, grabbing 62 ground balls, and was named MLL Defensive Player of the Week for the week of 7/23/07.

For the second consecutive year, the MLL All-Star Game will match-up players from the Eastern Conference against their Western Conference counterparts. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 with Joe Beninati and Quint Kessenich calling the action and will once again feature the popular Bud Light Skills Competition during halftime.
