Postgame Quotes
John Markell, Ohio State head coach
On the Ohio State-Miami game
“I thought it was a tight game and it was fun for the fans. Goaltending was good on both parts from two even teams. It was intense and different out there (for Ohio State).”
On Ohio State’s performance
“We have to work on our breakaways. You have to play a patient game (against Miami). They don’t give much and are a physical team. It was a chess game out there.”
Nate Guenin, Senior defenseman
On the Ohio State-Miami game
“Anytime Ohio State and Miami play it’s a good game. It’s a rival and it’s competitive. We only gave up one goal this weekend and we could have been ahead by three or four. We want to win every time, but Miami is a good team and won a lot of the face offs.”
Dave Caruso, Senior goalie
On his performance vs. Miami
“I was a little off and I wasn’t clean with the puck, but I felt good in the net. I knew my job was to stop the puck so I just focused on doing that.”
Enrico Blasi, Miami head coach
On the game vs. Ohio State
“Every time we play each other, it’s either a one-goal game or it goes into overtime. It was a good college hockey game tonight. We both found our legs tonight and came back after yesterday.”
On the tournament
“The people at both Nationwide and at Ohio State put on a first-class tournament. I don’t know what the attendance was tonight, but it was a great crowd. It’s close to home for us. Hopefully, the tournament with will keep growing and Columbus realizes what it has.”
On why Andy Greene went first in the shoot-out
“Andy was first on our list. Actually, last night when we went into overtime I had a list of five guys for a shootout and Andy was on the top of that list, also. Andy is our senior, our captain and our leader and he should go first because of that.”
Andy Greene, Miami senior defenseman
On the game
“We knew we had to go in there and pressure their defense. Dave Caruso has always played well against us and he did tonight. For us, this is the same as a championship. It really helps boost the confidence of the team as a whole.”
