Freshman finishes 10th in 400m preliminaries, fails to qualify for finals at NCAA Championships
COLUMBUS, OH Ohio State freshman sprinter Thomas Murdaugh wrapped up a stellar indoor season Friday afternoon at the NCAA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championships in College Station, Texas.
Murdaugh finished 10th in the 400m preliminary heats with a time of 47.16. The top eight times qualified for Saturday’s finals.
LSU’s Robert Simmons finished in first in 46.63. Murdaugh’s Big Ten rivals Jeremy Orr of Michigan State and Gakologelwang Masheto of Illinois also failed to qualify for the final runOrr placed just ahead of the freshman in ninth with a time of 46.12, while Masheto placed 13th in 47.37.
The Buckeyes return to action March 28 at the Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
