The Buckeyes begin their quest for a national championship  next week against Xavier at 1 p.m. in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After winnings its fourth-consecutive Big Ten tournament title, the Ohio State men’s tennis team was selected as the No. 3 seed in the 2009 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship Tuesday. The squad will face Xavier at 1 p.m. May 8 in the first round at Stickney Tennis Center on The Ohio State University campus. As host of the NCAA regional, Ohio State also welcomes Michigan and Notre Dame to Columbus. The Wolverines and Irish will meet at 10 a.m. May 8. 

The winner of the Ohio State (31-1; 10-0 Big Ten) and Xavier matchup will advance to meet the winner of Michigan-Notre Dame contest at noon May 9 for a chance to move on to the Round of 16 hosted by at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. 

“We played Xavier earlier this year and we look forward to the matchup,” Ty Tucker, Ohio State head coach, said. “Obviously, they had a good year and we did too. It is nice to see three Ohio teams in the NCAA. We are excited to host the NCAA regionals and we are going to have to bring our best tennis because we know they will.”
