COLUMBUS, Ohio The nationally-ranked Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team sit in 14th place with 40 points after the second day of the 2009 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships held in College Station, Texas.

Highlighting the evening was the performance by a pair of Buckeye divers. Junior Burkley Showe and sophomore Sean Moore earned All-America honors after excelling on the three-meter springboard. Showe took third with 447.25 points, while Moore was eighth with a score of 400.55.

Ohio State had a handful of swimmers participate in the preliminary round of competition. The team of Itai Chammah, Felipe Travesso, Chuck Allison and Joel Elber opened the day, competing in the 200-yard medley relay. Allison also competed in the 100 butterfly and Travesso swam in the 100 breaststroke.

Also participating in the 100 breaststroke were junior Sam Pelkey and sophomore Elliott Keefer. Junior George Markovic represented the Buckeyes in the 200 freestyle event.

Ohio State concludes competition Saturday with the finals beginning at 8 p.m. EST.
