COLUMBUS, Ohio The 11th-rankedOhio State men’s swimming team improved to 5-0 this season with a 169-86 win Tuesday over Cleveland State at the Buseby Natatorium on the Cleveland State campus. The Buckeyes won 13 of the 14 races and were led by a pair of individual event wins from three swimmers: Andrew Olson, Felipe Travesso and Quincy Lee.

Among the many highlights of the evening, one that stands out is Travesso’s win in the 100 breaststroke. The senior from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, touched the wall in 55.96 to remain undefeated in the event.

Ohio State’s 200-yard medley relay team opened up the meet with a win just as they have done the past four meets. The quad of sophomore Andrew Misich, Travesso, junior Andrew Bretscher and junior Joel Elber finished in a time of 1:30.73.

After the Vikings took the win in the 1000 freestyle, Olson led the 1-2-3-4 finish in the 200 freestyle. The junior finished in 1:41.67and was followed by freshman Lincoln Fahrbach (1:43.70), senior Jake Busch (1:43.93) and sophomore Jayson King (1:44.02).

The Buckeyes swept the top three spots in the 50 backstroke with sophomore Itai Chammah picking up his first win of the season in 23.70. Travesso continued his winning ways in the sprint breaststroke, taking first in the 50-yard distance in 25.15.

Sophomore Quincy Lee took first in the 100 butterfly (50.39) in another 1-2-3-4 finish for Ohio State. Lee’s second win came in the 50 butterfly in a time of 22.54.
Elber picked up his third win of the year in the 50 freestyle in 20.98 and was followed by Olson’s second win of the evening in the 100 freestyle (46.71). Ohio State freshman standout Andrew Elliott earned first in the 200 backstroke in 51.58 to lead another top three sweep by the Buckeyes.

Other Ohio State winners were junior Stefan Sigrist in the 500 freestyle (4:31.93) and sophomore Justin Farra in the 200 individual medley (1:53.89).

The 200 freestyle relay team of Elber, Fahrbach, Bretscher and Olson grabbed first in 1:23.57 to close out the meet.

The Ohio State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will co-host the 2008 Ohio State Swimming & Diving Invitational Dec. 5-7 at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
