COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s golf head coach Jay Moseley announced the signing of four student-athletes in the class of 2022. Topher Reed, Tyler Sabo, Neal Shipley and Joe Wilson IV will all join the program next fall.
Reed, Sabo and Wilson IV are among the top high school players in the state of Ohio. Wilson IV (West Chester, Ohio) and Reed (Fairview Park, Ohio) shared medalist honors as the state tournament last month at the Scarlet Course while Tyler Sabo (Ashland, Ohio) finished in a tie for fourth.
“Each of these three young men are proven winners, across the state and region and even nationally,” said Moseley. “They have consistently proven they are the three best players in Ohio so we are thrilled they all chose to stay in the Buckeye state and represent the Scarlet and Gray. The Ohio State brand is powerful to them, and they understand the sacrifice it takes to be an elite athlete at Ohio State.
Shipley played the last two and a half seasons at James Madison. He played in 16 events for the Dukes and had a 73.21 scoring average. He also led Pittsburgh Central Catholic to its first two state championships in program history.
“Coach Smith and I value the family support and the intangibles each one of them possess,” Moseley continued. “This class is extremely special and we are excited for the journey to begin for these three young men next fall.”
