COLUMBUS, Ohio Led by senior attackman Joel Dalgarno’s first-team selection, the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team had three players named to the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook 2009 Preseason All-America Team. Junior midfielder James Green and senior defender Scott Matthews were second-team choices.

Dalgarno, a native of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, was an honorable mention All-America a year ago and is a two-time first team All-Great Western Lacrosse League honoree. A team co-captain this season, he is the GWLL’s leading returning scorer after ranking second in the conference with 75 points a year ago, including 40 goals and 35 assists. He was fifth in the NCAA in points per game (4.41) and fourth in assists per game (2.06) in 2008. Dalgarno enters his senior season with 166 career points.

Green, from Doylestown, Pa., was named to the All-GWLL second team a year ago after posting 33 points, including 22 goals and 11 assists. He has started 24 career games, including all 17 a year ago. Over the summer, Green won a gold medal with Team USA at the ILF Under-19 World Championship.

Nottingham, Md., native Matthews has played in 44 games for the Buckeyes, starting the last 41. He was a first-team All-GWLL selection in 2008 after recording a career-best 31 groundballs and scoring his first career goal. He is a team co-captain in 2009.

The Buckeyes open the 2009 season at noon Feb. 7 against Detroit-Mercy in Columbus.
