COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team, celebrating the 60th year of varsity lacrosse in 2009, opens its season Feb. 7 vs. Detroit-Mercy, the first of six games for the Buckeyes in Columbus. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, with all seats general admission. Highlighting the schedule is the “Showdown in the Shoe” April 25 when Ohio State takes on Notre Dame in Ohio Stadium prior to the football team’s spring game.
The Buckeyes opener vs. Detroit-Mercy Feb. 7 is scheduled to be played indoors at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, where seating is limited to 500 fans. Tickets are expected to be sold out prior to game day, so fans should plan on pre-purchasing tickets.
Games vs. Bucknell Feb. 21 and Fairfield Feb. 28 are scheduled for outside at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, but will be moved inside in the case of inclement weather. It is suggested fans pre-purchase those tickets to secure a spot at the game, should it be moved indoors where seating is limited.
The team is expected to take on Robert Morris March 13 and Quinnipiac March 28 outdoors in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, weather permitting, followed by the game vs. the Irish at 11 a.m. April 25 in Ohio Stadium.
For the first five games of the year, adult tickets are $5 and student/youth tickets are $3. Youth 6 and under and Ohio State students (with a valid OSU ID) are free. Tickets for groups of 10 or more are available for $2 and must be purchased before the day of the game.
For the Notre Dame contest in Ohio Stadium, all tickets are $5, with children 6 and under free. Tickets are available for groups of 50 or more for $4 each. Tickets include both the lacrosse and football games on that day.
Tickets will be available online at ohiostatebuckeyes.com (click on TICKETS), through Ticketmaster by phone at 800-745-3000, in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or at the Ohio State ticket office in the southeast corner of the Schottenstein Center. Tickets, subject to availability, also can be purchased at the gate on game day starting one and a half hours prior to faceoff (cash only).
Group rate tickets must be purchased prior to game day. The group rate is only available in person at the Ohio State ticket office, in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or by phone through the Ohio State group sales department (614-247-1984).
FUNday packs are available for the games vs. Robert Morris and Quinnipiac and can be purchased beginning Monday. For only $7, each person receives one game ticket, one hot dog, one soda and one popcorn. Against the Bobcats, rally towels will be handed out to the first 750 fans courtesy of Nationwide and the Buckeyes will celebrate Senior Day.
