COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) began play in 1961 and Ohio State has been crowned the league’s regular season champion for nearly half the seasons (27 of 59 completed campaigns).
In addition to owning the most MIVA regular season crowns, the Buckeyes also pace the conference by winning 17 of 45 MIVA Tournament titles.
A Buckeye has been named MIVA Player of the Year 23 times in league history, a total accumulated by 18 different OSU student-athletes. Nicolas Szerszen is the only three-time honoree all-time. Ohio State has also garnered 23 MIVA Coach of the Year recognitions. Pete Hanson is one of seven Buckeye head coahes to earn the honor, doing so an astounding 13 times.
