Sophomore-to-be won bronze with Team Finland at 2010 Winter Olympics

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Minttu Tuominen, a sophomore-to-be on the Ohio State women’s hockey team, has been named to the Finnish Women’s National Team that will be competing in a series against archrival Sweden in early September.

The Finnish and Swedish teams will play each other on the Åland Islands, located between the two countries in the Baltic Sea. Tuominen and her Finnish teammates will be there Sept. 1-6 and play games against Sweden on the 4th and 5th.

Tuominen, a forward who won a bronze medal as a member of Team Finland at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, recently completed the national team’s training camp in Vierumäki, August 3-8. The camp was part of the selection process for the series vs. Sweden as well as early preparation for the IIF World Women’s Championships next spring.
