COLUMBUS, Ohio – Another member of the Ohio State women’s hockey team will compete at the 2011 IIHF World Women’s Championships as sophomore Minttu Tuominen earned a spot on Team Finland. Tuominen, along with teammates Natalie Spooner (Team Canada) and Annie Svedin (Team Sweden), will participate in the international tournament April 16-25 in Switzerland.

For the Buckeyes, Tuominen competed in 32 of Ohio State’s 36 games at forward this past season. She finished her sophomore campaign with 10 points on two goals and eight assists.

Tuominen was previously a member of both the 2008-09 and 2009-10 Finnish National teams, winning the Olympic bronze medal as a part of the 2010 Finnish squad in Vancouver. She has competed at the 2009 and 2010 MLP Cups in Germany, while also playing in the Four Nations Cup in 2008 and 2009.
