COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s volleyball libero Mik Berzins has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Defensive Player of the Week for his play last week in the 3-1 (30-27, 26-30, 30-26, 30-26) road victory at George Mason.
Berzins recorded a match-high 17 digs and handled 35 serve reception attempts without an error against the Patriots. Of his 17 digs, six were converted to kills (.353) and 14 of his 35 reception attempts (.400) produced kills for the Buckeyes. For the match, Berzins averaged 4.25 digs per game. This is the second player of the week (March 8) honor for Berzins this season.
Ohio State (14-7 overall, 6-1 MIVA) returns to conference play with matches Friday and Saturday at Quincy.
