COLUMBUS, Ohio – %^$The No. 24 Ohio State baseball team (38-14 overall, 17-7 in the Big Ten) lost to the Michigan Wolverines (26-23 overall, 10-11 in the Big Ten), 7-5, in front of a season high, 2,643 at Bill Davis Stadium. The Wolverines rallied with four runs in the top of the ninth to win the game. The Buckeyes attempted a rally of their own in the bottom of the ninth, scoring a run before leaving the bases loaded.%^$

%^$Christian Snavely (Fr., Defiance, Ohio) went 4-for-4 with two runs batted in. E.J. Laratta (Jr., Englewood, Colo.) was solid but took the loss (8-3). He went eight innings, tossed 137 pitches, scattered 13 hits, gave up five runs (four earned), walked four and struck out seven.%^$

%^$The game started with a 29-minute rain delay.%^$

%^$The Wolverines struck first in the top of the second inning. Jeff Trzos led off with a walk. Jordan Cantalamessa followed and hit a home run off a 1-0 offering from Laratta over the left field wall to give UM a 2-0 lead.%^$

%^$The Buckeyes responded in the bottom half of the inning. With one out, Doug Deeds (Fr., Bexley, Ohio) hammered a 3-2 offering from UM starting pitcher Bobby Korecky over the center field wall to cut the UM lead to 2-1. Two batters later, Snavely singled to right field and moved to second on a fielding error by rightfielder Gino Lollio. Joe Wilkins (Jr., Grove City, Ohio) followed and tied the game at two with a run scoring single to right field.%^$

%^$Michigan took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third inning. With Mike Sokol on third base and Brock Koman on first, Koman attempted to steal second base and was tagged out, but an alert Sokol scored on the play.%^$

%^$In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Buckeyes tied the game at three. Nick Swisher (So., Parkersburg, W.Va.) led off with a double to right field. Two outs later, Snavely blooped a double to shallow left field to score Swisher.%^$

%^$In the bottom of the eighth inning, Swisher led off with a walk. Back-to-back bunt singles by Deeds and John Mayor (Sr., Chesterfield, Mo.) loaded the bases. Snavely stepped to the plate and slapped a single to left field to give OSU a 4-3 lead.%^$

%^$In the top of the ninth inning, the Wolverines rallied with four runs. Scott Tousa drove in a pair with a single and Cantalamessa and Lollio drove in the other runs.%^$

%^$In the bottom of the ninth, OSU mounted a rally and scored a run on a Trzos wild pitch, but the Buckeyes left the bases loaded as Michigan claimed the victory.%^$
