COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior All-American Michael Hartfield was named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week Wednesday by the conference office after a two-for-two performance at the Jim Click Shootout.

The Manchester, Conn., product was impressive at the scored four-team meet in Tucson, Ariz., last Saturday, collecting a pair of wins and 20 points to help the Buckeyes to the team title in a closely contested competition. Hartfield posted a personal-best of 7.91m in the long jump and a mark of 15.63m in the triple jump – the junior’s long jump performance currently tops the nation and conference, while his triple jump effort ranks among the Top 5 nationally.

The weekly honor is the first of Hartfield’s career. He is the first Buckeye to take home the award since Matt DeChant last January.
