COLUMBUS, Ohio – Mia Grunze, an outside hitter on the Ohio State women’s volleyball team, is set to compete on USA Volleyball’s Collegiate National Team – Anaheim roster, the organization announced Wednesday.

Grunze joins outside hitter Gabby Gonzales and libero Kylie Murr, who were named to the Gold roster on March 4.

The sophomore is one of 28 players headed to Anaheim, Calif. to train June 21-27 at the American Sports Centers. The CNT-Anaheim squad will compete alongside the U.S. Women’s National Team as it makes its final preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Grunze started 10 of the 20 matches she appeared in for the Buckeyes during the 2019 season. She ranked fourth on the team with 153 kills and added 81 digs, 18 blocks (15a, 3s), six assists and two service aces. The Waterford, Wis., native had seven outings with double figures in kills and recorded a pair of double-doubles. She was placed on the Sports Imports D.C. Koehl Classic all-tournament team after she averaged 4.91 kills and a .304 attacking clip. Grunze also hit .343, connected on a career-high 30 kills and totaled 30.5 points against Texas Tech during the tournament.

Grunze, Gonzales and Murr are the first Buckeyes to join the U.S. Collegiate National Team since Taylor Hughes ’19, who was on the CNT Europe and Thailand rosters in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
