After winning the all-around at a July qualifier, Wynn looks to repeat his effort at championships in Dallas

COLUMBUS, OhioBrandon Wynn, Steven Spencer and former Buckeye Jake Bateman (2006-09) will be representing the Ohio State men’s gymnastics program at the 2009 VISA Championships Wednesday-Friday in Dallas, Texas.

The 2009 men’s senior division field is comprised of 48 athletes, including three 2008 Olympians. Action starts with the qualifier at 8 p.m. EST Wednesday leading up to the finals slated for 8 p.m. EST Friday at Dallas’ American Airlines Center.

Universal Sports, a division of NBC, will televise the men’s finals live, in addition to a live webcast provided on NBC Sports will show a recap of the men’s national meet on a tape delayed basis at 2 p.m. Aug. 15.

In July, Wynn, a rising junior, notched an 87.635 score that topped all 88 contestants at the 2009 Men’s Qualifier hosted by USA Gymnastics in Colorado Springs, Colo. The All-American from Voorhees, N.J., was followed by Bateman who finished the meet in second with an 87.2 all-around tally. The two will again face the nation’s elite all-arounders at the VISA championships as they vie for a position on the U.S. Men’s Senior National team.

Also competing at the event is Spencer, the 2009 NCAA pommel horse runner-up. The Pleasanton, Calif., native posted a second-place score of 15.15 on the event at the July qualifier to advance to the championships. The pommel horse specialist has his sights on making the U.S. men’s team for the 2009 World Championships in London.
