COLUMBUS, Ohio—Donica Meriman (Sr., Trotwood, Ohio) has been named the Big Ten Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office.
Merriman posted two individual wins at this past weekend’s Jesse Owens Track Classic. She took first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 13.19 seconds. She followed that performance with a winning season-best time of 23.41 in the 200-meter dash, also a NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Earlier in the day, Merriman anchored the 4×100-meter relay team to a second place finish in a season-best time of 45.49 seconds.
This marks the second time Merriman has received the honor this season. She previously was honored on April 16.
This weekend, the Buckeyes compete in their final meet before the Big Ten Championships, traveling to Bloomington, Ind., for the Billy Hayes Invitational held at Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex. Events are scheduled to begin at noon CST.
