COLUMBUS, OHIO – The NCAA has announced the semifinal pairings for the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship next Thursday in Ft. Wayne, Ind. Ohio State (24-3), seeded third in the bracket, will face second seed Pepperdine (22-5) at 8 p.m. central in the Allen County Memorial Coliseum. The first semifinal has top seed UCLA (27-5) facing fourth seed Penn State (20-13) at 5:30 p.m. central. The winners returns at 1 p.m. central on Saturday, May 6 for the National Championship match.
Ohio State was an automatic qualifier from the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. UCLA qualified from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and Penn State from the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. Pepperdine was selected as the at-large team.
The Buckeyes played both Pepperdine and Penn State this season. OSU lost at Pepperdine 3-0 (15-10, 15-8, 15-13) on March 22. Ohio State defeated Penn State 3-0 (15-8, 17-15, 15-10) at Rutgers-Newark on Feb. 19.
