COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State men’s track and field team competed in its final meet before the NCAA championships on Saturday at the Alex Wilson Last Chance meet. The meet was held on the campus of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.

Anthony Cole won the 200-meter dash in a season-best time of 21.07. The time is an NCAA provisional qualifier and is tied for the 11th-best time in the country this season and also the best time in the Big Ten. Cole took second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.75 and is the only Big Ten sprinter with a Top 30 time in both the 60m and 200m dashes.

Senior David Ebersole posted a season-best mark at in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 68 feet, 1 inch. The mark is 14th-best in the country this season and may propel him to the NCAA championships where he would join teammate and NCAA automatic qualifier senior Lenny Jatsek.

“After a great conference meet, I was very impressed that Tony and Dave were able to improve their marks and likely qualify for the 2008 NCAA Championships,” Ohio State head coach Robert Gary said. “Along with Jeff See and Lenny Jatsek, I am excited to see this program’s focus continue to be both the conference championship and nationals.”

Next week qualified Buckeyes will head to the NCAA indoor championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
