COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s track and field team opened competition at the All-Ohio Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio on the campus of the University of Cincinnati on Friday.

“I thought we had a really good first day. The discus, pole vault and 10,000 went fairly well,” Ohio State head coach Robert Gary said.  “Even though we are resting some guys for Drake next week and competing some guys in off events, I think we can win the meet. I challenged the team earlier in the week to win the meet since last year we got third. I am excited to see how they respond.”

In field events Kyle Burns took third in the pole vault with a leap of 16 feet inches. Bryan Chard (16-0 3/4)  and Anthony Amore (15-1) finished sixth and eighth, respectfully. Patrick Whalen took third in the discus toss with a mark of 166 feet, 6 inches and Lenny Jatsek finished sixth with a heavy of 160-3.

Action resumes tomorrow inside Gettler Stadium at 9:15 a.m.
