%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio- Phil Metz (Jr., Mentor, Ohio/Mentor), Jeremy Wurtzman (So., Rochester, N.Y./Brickhouse) and Adrian Bohane (So., West Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Lakes), members of the Ohio State men’s tennis team, are among the Top 100 individual collegiate players ranked in the fall poll released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tuesday. OSU is one of five teams with three or more of its players holding a national ranking in the Top 75.%^$

%^$”This is a great honor for these guys to have,” Ty Tucker, OSU head coach, said. “They played well in individual competition this fall and were rewarded for it. This is great for the program because of the recognition it receives but we will see what it means in team success this spring. These rankings won’t win matches for us so we have to go out and play hard to win. They have a target on them now but I think they can handle it and will play well.”%^$

%^$Metz, after posting a 6-4 singles mark this fall, will open the spring schedule next month as the No. 16 player in the rankings. He began the fall slate as the No. 12 player in the nation. Wurtzman moved up from No. 35 in the preseason poll to No. 20 on the strength of a 9-5 start and a 5-4 record against Top 100 competition. The Buckeye duo joins UCLA’s Marcin Matkowski (No. 13), Jean-Julian Rojer (No. 18) and Tobias Clemens (No. 19) as the only schools with more than one of its members ranked in the Top 20.%^$

%^$Bohane earned the first national ranking of his collegiate career with the No. 72 spot. He went 9-6 in the fall with a 3-2 record against nationally ranked foes after opening the year unranked.%^$

%^$The Buckeyes open the spring team season with two matches Jan. 23. OSU plays host to intrastate rival Toledo at 10 a.m. and Butler at 5 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Jesse Owens West Recreational Center.%^$
