Another academic award rolls in for director of tennis Ty Tucker and his team as they again win the Varsity O award for the top small team GPA.
The Buckeyes also received an NCAA Public Recognition Award this year which is given to teams scoring in the Top 10 percent in each sport based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rates (APR). This was the third year in a row that the program has been recognized and the seventh time overall.
Another impressive number for a small roster is this is the fifth year in a row where 10 or more members of the team have earned the OSU Scholar-Athlete distinction. All 10 players this year were OSU Scholar-Athletes while five of them earned Academic All-Big Ten honors (you must be in your second year at the institution to earn Academic All-Big Ten honors).
Kyle Selig earned his degree this spring and will use the waiver granted by the NCAA to spring sport athletes to compete again next year as a graduate student.
