Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team hung tough against the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, but did not have a final 4th quarter push and fell 17-8 this afternoon before 422 at Homewood Field.

Trailing 7-5 at halftime, the Buckeyes seemed poised to make a second half run at the third-ranked team in the country, but Johns Hopkins Dylan Schlott kept finding the net, six times in all, to fuel the win. Buddy Lange (Jr., Annandale, N.J.) and Sandy Boyce (So., Butler, Md.) scored back-to-back goals to pull within 10-7 late in the third.

Then, just moments into the fourth quarter, Buckeye ace Kevin Johnson (Sr., Penfield, N.Y.) came up with a goal to pull OSU to 12-8 and putting a scare in to JHU. But, the Blue Jays reeled off six straight goals to seal the win.

Ohio State goalie Mike Abeles (Jr., Westfield, N.J.) continued to shine between the pipes stopping 21 shots. Lange, Boyce, and Johnson each recorded two goals while Kevin Stephan (Fr., Massapequa, N.Y.) and Greg Zytkowski (Jr., North Olmstead, Ohio) each posted one.

The Buckeyes will return home Wednesday to host Great Western Lacrosse League front-runner Notre Dame at 3:30 at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
