COLUMBUS, Ohio For the second-consecutive week, Kevin Buchanan, Ohio State men’s lacrosse senior midfielder, has been named the Great Western Lacrosse League Player of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. This is the third league award for Buchanan, a native of Cockeysville, Md., this season (March 13, April 10) and is the fifth honor of his career.

Buchanan also was the winner of the MVP of the week fan poll, garnering 50 percent of the vote.

Ohio State tri-captain Buchanan led the squad to a 14-11 upset of then-No. 8 North Carolina last Saturday in Baltimore. He had a season-best five goals and seven points in the win, Ohio State’s first over the Tar Heels in program history. The win extended the Buckeyes’ winning streak to four and moved the team’s record to 8-3 on the year.

With his seven-point outing, Buchanan extended his scoring streak to 40 games (78-62-139). He has multiple points in each of his last 23 games and is on a 20-game goal-scoring streak. Buchanan has a team-best 29 goals and 49 points this season, ranking first in the GWLL and fourth in the NCAA in points per game. He now has 148 (82g, 66a) points as a Buckeye to tie for sixth in program history (Mike Avery, 1988-91) while he is sixth in assists all-time.
