COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s gymnastics teams will gain experience at noon Friday in St. John Arena, the site of the 2003 Big Ten Championship during the annual Group Intersquad Scrimmage. The team will be split into two groups, Scarlet and Gray. There will be no all-around competition and the maximum number of events an individual will compete in is four. Three scores from each event will count towards the final team score.
“This event will give the guys a chance to see where they are and give the coaches a chance to assess the team,” Miles Avery, men’s gymnastics head coach, said.
In the annual Mixed Pairs Championship on Dec. 8 in St. John Arena, where one men’s and one women’s gymnast are paired up in a three rotation competition, Kerry Adderly (So./Orlando, Fla.) and Shelby Warner (Fr./Fenton, Mich.) combined to win the event with a score of 55.225.
The duo of Randy Monahan (So./Elizabethtown, Pa.) and Tiffanie Janke (Jr./Schaumburg, Ill.) placed second with a score of 54.9. Cody Trobaugh (So./Dallas, Texas) and Kaylin Schlecht (Fr./Marion, Ohio) complied 54.875 points and landed in third place. The other pair to reach the final rotation was the tandem of Jamie Houle (Jr./Enfield, Conn.) and Laura Sommerville (So./Algonquin, Ill.). The next event for the Buckeyes is the Alumni vs. Varsity Scrimmage at 2 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Steelwood Athletic Training Facility. It will be the last exhibition event before the team travels to Las Vegas to compete in the Windy City Invitational Jan. 11.
