Men’s Gymnastics Concludes Competition at USA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s gymnasts Sean Melton and Alec Yoder were selected for the USA National Team following the USA Championships in Kansas City, Missouri from Aug. 8 to Aug. 10.

Melton finished the Championships in eighth place with an all-around score of 81.950 and a combined total of 162.750. He posted a score of 13.950 on floor and a 13.900 on rings for his two highest marks of the week.

After day one of competition, Yoder finished 15 overall with an all-around score of 78.550 and a high score of 14.350 on vault followed by a 14.150 on parallel bars. Yoder was a scratch for day two of competition.

Incoming freshmen Justin Ah Chow and Donovan Hewitt made their OSU debut over the weekend, with Hewitt competing in the Junior Men’s rotation. On day two of competition, Ah Chow posted his highest score of the weekend with a 13.800 on vault while Hewitt posted an impressive 14.350 score on vault, the fifth best mark in the discipline over the course of the Junior Men’s competition.

Melton and Yoder will continue competition with Team USA in hopes of qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Games.
