COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will enter the Big Ten Championship Tournament Friday following an off week of preparation.%^$

%^$Ohio State has won 22 team Big Ten titles and have 17 individual medalists since 1928. No other Big Ten school is close in team titles. Both Michigan and Purdue are second overall with 12 team victories.%^$

%^$Individually, Michigan has had 14 medalists with Purdue third with 13. %^$

%^$Since 1976, Ohio State has claimed 16 team titles, including three of the last four championships and a stretch of 11 titles in 12 years from 1976-87.%^$

%^$Ohio State completed its regular season May 1-2 at the Fossum Invitational, hosted by Michigan State.%^$

%^$The Buckeyes finished seventh in the 17-team tournament, giving the Buckeyes three-consecutive Top 10 finishes after a sixth at the Marshall Invitational (April 9-10) and a ninth at the OSU Kepler Invitational (April 17-18). %^$

%^$The Buckeyes are led by Chris Emanuel (So., Ottumwa, Iowa) and Albert Hromulak’s (Sr., Johnstown, Pa.). Hromulak had led the team in stroke average all season until Emanuel overtook him in the season’s final event. %^$

%^$Emanuel owns a 74.3 scoring average in the 30 rounds played in the regular season. Hromulak is a close second at 74.4 strokes per round. %^$

%^$Both players have low rounds in the 60s this season. Hromulak shot a season-best 69 at the U.S. Intercollegiate April 3 in Jacksonville, Fla. His best tournament of the season came at the OSU Kepler Intercollegiate. He tied for sixth after rounds of 73-75-76=224.%^$

%^$Emanuel fired a 67 at the Red River Classic in Dallas Oct. 10. Emanuel also had a 69 last weekend in the second round of the OSU Kepler Intercollegiate. He finished ninth in the event, his best finish of the season.%^$

%^$Emanuel led the Buckeyes to a seventh-place finish (304-295-305=904) and third among Big Ten teams in the 17-team Fossum Invitational. Emanuel tied for 12th with rounds of 73-73-76=222. Illinois, led by medalist Larry Nuger (68-68-72=208) won the event (298-288-287=873). Michigan State, the host school, was fifth (304-292-299=895).%^$

%^$Hromulak and Ryan Dennis (Fr., Stow, Ohio) tied for 23rd after rounds of 78-71-76=225 and 73-76-76=225, respectively, for OSU. It was Dennis’ best finish of the season.%^$
