COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the 2004 Pre-National Championships, Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind. The Buckeye cross country teams finished the event, 15th and 32nd respectively, while competing at the at LaVern Gibson Championship Course. The event was hosted by Indiana State University.

The men’s team competed in the men’s white race and scored 387 points, while the women finished with 798 points in the women’s white race.

Junior Brian Olinger (Fresno, Ohio/Ridgewood), paced the men’s team for the fourth-consecutive week in the 8-kilometer event as he finished 14th, with a season-best time of 24:15.1. Freshman John Ealy (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) also turned in a season-best performance in the 8-kilometer run as he finished 36th, clocking a time 24:41.3.

On the woman’s side, Melanie Price (So., Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Turpin) paced the team as she finished the 6-kilometer event in a time of 22:14.6 to place 104th.

Stanford won the men’s white race with 77 points, while Colorado captured the woman’s white race with a total of 94 points.

The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action Saturday Oct. 31 to compete in the 2004 Big Ten Championships in Iowa City, Iowa.
