Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach
On coming to Ohio State
“We’ve never looked behind. We’ve only looked forward and focused on what we can do. I came to Ohio State to help rebuild this program and that’s been my mind set sense day one. This team is committed to getting better.”

Ron Lewis, junior guard
On the team, Thad Matta and returning home to Columbus
“(Coach Matta) is a down to earth person. It was a positive atmosphere when I got here and I’m excited to be back home (Columbus). There’s a lot of people rooting for me here in Columbus.”

Je’Kel Foster, senior guard
On the 2005-06 season
“We learned a lot from last year and have four seniors returning. A lot of people doubted us last year so this year it’s about never giving up.”

Matt Sylvester, senior forward
On getting practice underway
“We literally want to get better everyday and help the new guys acclimate. Practices are going to be competitive as guys look for starts.”

Ivan Harris, junior forward
On rebounding
“College is always a big change. This is the Big Ten, you’ve got to be aggressive on the boards — rebounding is a mind-set. We need to go in there and be aggressive and play hard.”

Senior Guard J.J. Sullinger
On this season
“I am looking forward to having a good time and having the most memorable season of my career with my closest friends. The guys on the team this year are like my brothers and we really enjoy each other’s company. There is a special group of guys this season and it being my last year, it makes it even better. Everybody is working hard at being a better player.” On the new strength and conditioning coach
“Coach (Dave) Richardson brings toughness. He wants us to work extremely hard and push our limits. I feel I am in better shape now and feel much stronger. I think he also depends on me to take on a leadership role, so I have been working hard on my leadership skills.”

Senior Center Terence Dials
On his goals for the season
“My goals for the season are to stay healthy and to try and be a leader. We have four captains this year, so it is important we are all leaders. I just need to go out and play my best, and then things usually go well.”

On the Big Ten
“I hope we are able to go out and win as many games as possible, which is usually the objective every year. I believe our team is a work in progress, but we have a lot of potential.”
