COLUMBUS, Ohio Thad Matta, Ohio State men’s basketball head coach, announced Wednesday that Eric Wallace has asked to be released from his scholarship and will transfer to another school.
Wallace will complete his spring quarter academic coursework before leaving the program.

Wallace, a 6-5 forward from Winston-Salem, N.C., completed his freshman season with the Buckeyes in 2007-08. The product of Hargrave Military Academy appeared in 15 games for Ohio State, averaging 1.8 points and 1.3 rebounds a game.

“Eric is a tremendous person and student-athlete,” Matta said. “We are thankful for his contributions to our team this past year. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
