Columbus, Ohio – Two meets into the 2018 season and the Ohio State men’s gymnastics team has several marks that rank inside the top five nationally.

In the team scoring category, Ohio State’s season-best score of 70.450 on the still rings at the season-opening Rocky Mountain is the No. 1 team tally for a single meet this season. The team score of 68.600 on the pommel horse recorded at the Nebraska meet on Jan. 20 is the second-best in the nation this year.

That team score of 68.600 on the pommel horse was led by junior Alec Yoder’s personal-best routine on the event. The Indianapolis native scored a 15.500 that evening, which is the No. 1 score in the nation this year on the pommel horse by .250 points. Yoder also owns the No. 4 rings score in the nation with a 14.700. Redshirt senior Sean Melton scored a 15.150 during his 2018 debut against Nebraska on the still rings to claim gold with the No. 1 score in the nation. Melton also owns the sixth-best high bar tally in the nation with a 14.100.

The No. 6 Buckeyes return to action on Saturday afternoon in a dual meet against No. 7 Michigan at 1 p.m. ET.
