COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Diamond Club, Ohio State baseball’s booster organization, will hold its Meet The Team Dinner Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at the Fawcett Center in Columbus. The event will introduce the 2018 Buckeyes, hearing from head coach Greg Beals as he discusses the upcoming season. The Buckeyes begin the 2018 campaign Feb. 16-18 at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Buckeye great Nick Swisher will be the guest speaker. As an outfielder for the Scarlet and Gray (2000-02), Swisher was named 2000 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and twice received first team All-Big Ten accolades in his career.
“We are very excited to have Nick Swisher coming back to campus to be our feature speaker at Meet the Team,” Beals said. “Nick is one of our most celebrated athletes here at The Ohio State University and we are very much looking forward to him spending time with our players and speaking at our event. Swish has had a storied career both in a Buckeye uniform and in the Major Leagues – his experiences and knowledge will be of great value to our people.”
Selected by the Oakland Athletics with the 16th overall pick of the 2002 Major League Baseball draft, Swisher spent time with the White Sox before heading to the New York Yankees where he was a part of the 2009 World Champion team and named an American League All-Star in 2010.
