COLUMBUS, Ohio – Milford, Michigan native Amanda Thiele has joined the Ohio State ice hockey program and will continue her academic and athletic career with the Buckeyes.
A goalie, Thiele was a teammate with fellow freshmen Riley Brengman with the Little Caesars and Belle Tire club programs. A four-year member of Little Caesars, she won state championships in 2017 and 2018 and then added another title to her resume with Belle Tire in 2020.
Thiele says her greatest sports thrills are winning her first youth hockey state championship and the U18 world championship with Team USA in Slovakia. Her goal one day is to play for the Olympic team.
A two-sport athlete, Thiele played lacrosse at Milford High School. She was a three-time varsity letter scholar-athlete and twice selected to the all-county team at midfield.
Off the ice, Thiele intends to major in criminology and would like to work with the FBI one day. She has two older brothers – Alex and Andrew – and a relative, Karl Thiele, who played soccer at Michigan State from 1962-64 and helped the Spartans reach the NCAA finals in 1964.
