COLUMBUS, Ohio-Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach, added to the 2007-08 men’s basketball recruiting class Tuesday when Eric Wallace, a 6-foot-6-inch, 230-pound guard/forward from North Carolina signed a national letter of intent to play for the Buckeyes.

Wallace becomes the fifth member of Matta’s third recruiting class at Ohio State. Wallace averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds a season ago for Robert Glenn High School in Kernersville, N.C. He will play his senior season at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia.

“We are very excited to have Eric join our family,” Matta said. “We like his athleticism coupled with his size and skill level. He is playing in a great program at Hargrave Military Academy this season. He will fit well with our system and style of play.”

Wallace joins Jon Diebler (6-7, 170, G, Upper Sandusky, Ohio/Upper Sandusky), Kosta Koufos (7-1, 250, F/C, Canton, Ohio/GlenOak), Dallas Lauderdale (6-9, 250, C, Solon, Ohio/Solon) and Evan Turner (6-6, 180, G/F, Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph’s) in the 2007-08 Ohio State men’s basketball recruiting class.

Ohio State, 3-0 this season and ranked No. 4 in the USA Today coaches Top 25 and No. 5 in the Associated Press Poll this week, resumes action at 7 p.m. Friday against Eastern Kentucky at Value City Arena.
