COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State goalkeeper Matt Lampson earned his third weekly honor of the season and sixth of his career after notching back-to-back shutouts last week, the Big Ten office announced Monday. The Hilliard, Ohio, native led the Buckeyes to wins over Oakland and Wisconsin as they improved to 9-5-2 overall and 3-2-0 in the Big Ten.
Lampson made four saves against Oakland Wednesday, keeping the Golden Grizzlies out of the net in the Buckeyes’ 2-0 win. He made six more stops against the Badgers Sunday, earning his Big Ten-leading eighth shutout and pushing Ohio State to the 1-0 win. Lampson now has 17 shutouts over this two-year career and has inched closer to third-place all-time at Ohio State (19).
He also leads the conference in goals-against average (0.72), saves (75) and save percentage (.862), and is the only conference keeper with a sub-1.0 GAA.
