Madison Bizal Named WCHA Defenseman of the Month

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s ice hockey defenseman, Madison Bizal has earned the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s (WCHA) December Defenseman of the Month award, conference officials announced Thursday. The award is Bizal’s first career conference honor.

In the month of December, the Scarlet and Gray played two games against the No. 7-ranked Princeton Tigers and came out of the weekend with a 1-1 split. In two games, the sophomore defender tallied two assists, including a crucial power play assist. Bizal’s second point of the weekend was an assist on Tatum’s Skaggs’ last minute goal in game two to extend the Buckeye lead to 5-2.

Bizal is one of three Ohio State defensemen with 10 or more season points. She currently sits sixth overall with 10 points from three goals and seven assists. In the WCHA, Bizal is ranked third for power play points with 0.33 power play points per game and is tied for seventh for defenseman scoring (0.50 PPG).

The Buckeyes are set to open the New Year Jan. 10-11 in Columbus against Minnesota State.
