COLUMBUS Logan Maccani, a senior captain on the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team, is one of four finalists across the country for the Yeardley Reynolds Love (“YRL”) Unsung Hero Award, the One Love Foundation announced.

The YRL Unsung Hero Award recognizes the accomplishments of six student-athletes (one male, one female in Division I, II and III) who help their teams achieve success in ways that may not be measured in statistics. Instead, it recognizes athletes who make a significant contribution to the team while also bringing joy to teammates. The award recipients exhibit leadership as a positive role model and also are involved in community service. They are awarded a sum of money from the One Love Foundation to be given to their favorite charity. The winners will be announced later in May.

“We’re proud of Logan for the many positive ways that he represents Buckeye lacrosse,” said head coach Nick Myers. “He’s the embodiment of what we strive for in our program. What makes this award so special is all the positive and impactful work that the One Love Foundation does year-round.”

Maccani is Ohio State’s active career leader in games played (63), having suited up in every contest over the last four years. A defensive midfielder, he helped the Scarlet and Gray lead the Big Ten in goals-against average in both 2017 and 2018. Off the field, Maccani is among the most active members in the community. He’s read to second grades as part of the 2nd and 7 Foundation, worked with the Upper Arlington Youth Lacrosse Clinic and volunteered with Slice of Columbus, an event in downtown Columbus that raises money for Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

In the classroom, Maccani is a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten honoree. He will earn his degree in finance. Earlier this year, he was named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award.

The YRL Unsung Hero award was established in 2011 to celebrate collegiate lacrosse players at all levels who demonstrate dedication, integrity, humility, hard work, community service, leadership, kindness and sportsmanship – all qualities former University of Virginia women’s lacrosse standout Yeardley Reynolds Love exemplified throughout her life.
