COLUMBUS, OhioAndrew Lutz of the No. 15 Ohio State men’s volleyball team earned MIVA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The honor is the third of the season for the redshirt junior.

Lutz led the Buckeyes offensively this past week, putting together big numbers against tough opponents in California this past weekend. The opposite averaged 4.31 kills per set over 13 played, having 56 total.

Highlighting his week was his performance against Cal State Northridge Saturday. Lutz compiled a career-high 29 kills in the five-set thriller and added 12 digs for his first double-double of the season. He chipped in three block assists to average 6.1 points per set against the Matadors.

In the team’s tough 3-2 loss at No. 2 Long Beach State Friday, Lutz totaled a team-high 21 kills for a 4.20 average and finished with a .312 attack percentage.

Overall, Lutz leads the Buckeyes with 246 kills this season and is fourth in the MIVA with a 3.57 average.

Following tonight’s match vs. Harvard in St. John Arena, the Buckeyes travel to MIVA rival Ball State, March 23, for a 4 p.m. ET match. The meeting will be the last regular season meeting between the two teams.
