COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seth Lonsway, a redshirt sophomore left-hander on the Ohio State baseball team, has been named a Second Team Preseason All-American, Collegiate Baseball announced Tuesday. The Celina, Ohio, native was voted a First Team Freshman All-American by Perfect Game/Rawlings and a Second Team Freshman All-American by Baseball America and the NCBWA and a season ago.
Lonsway, a Third Team All-Big Ten selection and member of the Big Ten All-Freshman and All-Tournament teams last year, went 8-4 with a 3.70 ERA in 92.1 innings pitched over 17 starts. The left-hander led all Division I freshmen with 126 strikeouts and struck out 71 batters in Big Ten play, the most of any conference pitcher. Lonsway, who limited opponents to a .214 average in his first season, was named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week May 21, Big Ten Pitcher of the Week three times and Big Ten Freshman of the Week May 20.
The Buckeyes open the 2020 campaign against St. Joseph’s at 6 p.m. Feb. 14 in Port Charlotte, Fla.
