Columbus, Ohio – Lisa Grubb, a junior forward on the Ohio State women’s soccer team (8-2-3, 4-0-3 Big Ten), was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Big Ten office Monday. Grubb accounted for three goals and an assist this weekend to help the Buckeyes extended their unbeaten stretch to 11 matches with wins over Northwestern and Illinois. She shared the honor with Tiffany Weimer of Penn State, who also led the Nittany Lions to victories over the Wildcats and Illini. Ohio State and Penn State are the only undefeated teams in Big Ten action. Ohio State will serve as host of the 2004 Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament Nov. 4-7 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Friday, Grubb netted the “Golden Goal” in the 94th minute of Ohio State’s 2-1 triumph over Northwestern in overtime. The winning score was the second goal of the night for the junior from Portage, Mich. Sunday, Grubb headed goal No. 3 of the weekend in the 29th minute and assisted on Ohio State’s third score in the 3-0 blanking of No. 11 Illinois.

Grubb’s seven points on the weekend upped her season total to a team-leading 16 points, while the three scores moved her into tops on the squad with seven goals. Grubb, Ohio State’s 2001 and 2002 Offensive Most Valuable Player, missed all but one game last season after suffering a knee injury. The weekly conference award is Grubb’s fourth of her career. Megan Tuura, a goalkeeper from Michigan, earned the defensive weekly honors.

Ohio State seeks to continue its unbeaten string with matches at Minnesota at 7 p.m. (CDT) Friday and at Iowa at 1 p.m. (CDT) Sunday.
