CHARLES, Mo. – The Ohio State University men’s volleyball team (10-7, 2-4 MIVA) ended a four-match conference road trip on the wrong end of a 25-15, 21-25, 25-20, 29-27 results against the Lindenwood Lions (11-6, 4-2 MIVA).
Reese Devilbiss and Martin Lallemand each reached double-digit kills, paced by 13 for Devilbiss at a .241 attacking rate. The same two Buckeyes also posted team-highs in digs, picking up a dozen apiece. Freshman middle Samuel Clark came in as top blocker, rejecting the Lions five times.
Extended momentum swings were the name of the game with zero lead changes throughout the first three sets. Lindenwood made it look easy in Sets 1 & 3 while the Buckeyes crushed it in a 25-21 second stanza.
The back-and-forth affair seemed to continue into the fourth when Ohio State raced out ahead 4-0. That four-point edge remained at 21-17 before the Lions stormed back and pulled even at 23-all. Action spilled past the traditional 25-point mark with both sides failing to capitalize on multiple opportunities to close the door. Third time was the charm for Lindenwood though, converting on Match Point #3 for a 29-27 clincher.
Ohio State returns to the Covelli Center to kick off March. Home matches versus Ball State (Wed., March 4) and Penn State (Sun., March 8) await the Buckeyes.
