Atlanta, Ga.— The 2016 AT&T Winter National Championships are going on right now at Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center and Ohio State swimmers are putting on quite the show.

Most notably, Lindsey Clary took home the national title in the 500 freestyle (4:39.33) during the day two finals session. Clary and Minnesota’s Brooke Zeiger, two All-American swimmers, were neck and neck heading into the finish, but Clary overtook her Big Ten foe down the stretch to come away with gold.

It marks the second national title for Clary, who capture the 400 IM crown as a sophomore in 2014. Last year at this meet Clary earned a pair of fourth place finishes in the 400 IM and 800 freestyle.

In addition to Clary, fellow Buckeye Meg Bailey has had a successful trip to nationals as well. In the event right after her teammate, Bailey took silver in the 200 IM with a stellar time of 1:57.81. She also competed at last year’s meet, swimming in four events.

Friday during prelims, both Clary and Bailey went 2-3 in the 400 IM with times of 4:09.15 and 4:11.68, respectively, and will be swimming in the top finals heat later today. Former Buckeye Aliena Schmidtke took the top spot in the 100 butterfly prelims (52.80).

Clary, Bailey, Taylor Vargo, and Katie Antal are all in Georgia representing Ohio State at the Winter National Championships.
