COLUMBUS, Ohio Lindsay Agnew, a senior on the 2016 Ohio State women’s soccer team, has been named a winner of the 2017 Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award, the conference office announced Tuesday. The award is an annual scholarship recognizing one male and one female Big Ten senior student-athlete pursuing a postgraduate degree for achievements in academics, athletics, civic service and leadership. Geno Morelli, a wrestler at Penn State, was the other recipient of the award.

Agnew, who is an environment, economy, development and sustainability major, becomes the second Buckeye to win the award after diver Chelsea Davis in 2010.

“Along with playing professional soccer, I’d like to pursue my master’s degree in business administration and this award will help me accomplish that,” Agnew said. “I’d eventually like to work for a business and help them with their sustainability goals both socially and environmentally.”

Agnew, who has earned a 3.86 grade-point average, recently was selected in the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Draft, getting taken by the Washington Spirit with the 19th overall pick. Agnew, from Dublin, Ohio, was a second team All-Big Ten selection in 2016 after leading the Buckeyes with 10 goals and eight assists. The co-captain and 2016 CoSIDA second team Academic All-American concluded her career fourth in program history with 19 assists, tied for 13th with 55 career points and 15th with 17 career goals. Agnew is a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten pick, a 2016 second team NSCAA Scholar All-East Region selection, a 2015 and 2016 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

Agnew previously was a two-year member of the Canadian U-17 national team and a member of the 2014 U-20 Women’s World Cup team. She won a silver medal at the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship in Guatemala and also represented Canada at the 2012 U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan.
