COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seniors Ryan Terefenko and Tre Leclaire are among 50 players nationally who today were named by the Tewaaraton Foundation to the 2020 Tewaaraton Award Men’s Watch List.

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

Leclaire and Terefenko are both repeat members of the Watch List, having also earned the honor last season (Leclaire was also on the list in 2018). Terefenko went on to be one of 25 Tewaaraton Award nominees last season.

A native of Sinking Spring, Pa., Terefenko is a three-time All-American who earned second team honors last spring from his spot in the defensive midfield. A stat stuffer, Terefenko already has three assists this season to go along with a team-high nine ground balls. His play has also contributed to Ohio State’s .955 clearing percentage through two games, which is seventh best in the country.

A 47-game veteran, Terefenko is the Buckeyes’ active career leader in ground balls (118) and also had 13 goals, 18 assists, 31 points and 13 caused turnovers.

Leclaire, from Surry, British Columbia, already has eight goals in the first two games of the season to push his career total to 117, which is fifth-highest in program history. He needs 31 goals to pass Logan Schuss (147 from 2010-13) for No. 1 on the all-time list.

One of the top scorers in the country, Leclaire is seventh amongst all active players in career goals and began the 2020 season by tying his career high with six goals in a 23-9 win over Detroit Mercy. He’s 13th nationally in goals per game (4.00) and 20th in points per game (5.50).

Terefenko and Leclaire, who are seeking to become the first four-time All-Americans in program history, will lead the 12th-ranked Buckeyes against Massachusetts on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside Ohio Stadium.
