COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior All-American Jantel Lavender and sophomore first team All-Big Ten selection Samantha Prahalis have been named to the 2010 WBCA State Farm All-Region Team.

Lavender makes her third straight appearance on the list after winning All-America honors last season as a sophomore. The three-time Big Ten player of the year and two-time tournament MOP led the Big Ten in scoring (21.4 ppg), field goal percentage (.517) and ranked third in rebounding (10.2 rpg). She went over the 2,000-point mark in her career March 7 when she set a Big Ten tournament record with 35 points in the championship game against Iowa. On pace to become Ohio State’s all-time leading scorer, she is the first Buckeye to go over the 2,000 points in her junior season.

Prahalis, who joined Lavender on the Big Ten all-tournament team, makes the list for the first time in her career after setting a school record with 270 assists this season. She is averaging 16.5 points and 8.0 assists while shooting 43 percent from the field and 81 percent from the line. Prahalis is just the second Division I player since 1999-2000 to average at least 16.0 points and 8.0 assists per game. She made a school-record 48 straight free throws this season and has at least eight assists in 19 games, including nine games with 10 or more.

The State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team selection committee will review these 52 candidates and cut the list to 40 finalists on Tuesday, March 23. The 40 finalists will all be in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team.
