COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s hockey senior forward Laura McIntosh was named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. The honor is the first of the season for McIntosh and the third of her career.
McIntosh guided the Buckeyes to a WCHA series sweep over St. Cloud State last weekend at home. She finished with four points and a plus-5 on-ice rating as the team defeated the Huskies 5-1 both Friday and Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink.
On Friday, McIntosh gave Ohio State the 2-1 lead at 6:06 in the first period and her first goal of the season ended up being the game-winner against SCSU. She also picked up an assist at 17:04, dishing out a helper on a Hokey Langan goal. McIntosh tallied two more points on Saturday, opening with an assist on Ally Tarr’s shorthanded, game-winning goal at 10:45 in the first. She also scored the team’s third goal of the game at 12:10 in the opening period.
With the assist on Friday, the Waterloo, Ontario, product became Ohio State’s all-time leader in career points against WCHA opponents as she surpassed Jana Harrigan’s 110 league points set in 2006. The assist on Saturday was McIntosh’s 100th of her career, which is an achievement no other Buckeye has reached.
McIntosh currently has 113 career points versus conference teams and is third on Ohio State’s all-time career points list with 137 for all games.
The Buckeyes take to the road for the first time this season, traveling to Grand Forks, N.D. to take on North Dakota, Oct. 21-22.
