COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kolie Allen, a freshman on the No. 16-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team, has been named Big Ten Athlete of the Week, the B1G announced Tuesday.
Allen, from Lombard, Ill., had three wins at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship last weekend in Seattle, including two singles victories over ranked players.
Against No. 4 Duke on court three, Allen rallied from a set down to defeat No. 21-ranked Kelly Chen, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1. In the Buckeyes’ victory over No. 10 Syracuse, Allen downed No. 67 Miranda Ramirez in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.
On the doubles court, Allen and sophomore Luna Dormet posted a 6-2 victory at No. 2 vs. the Orange as the Buckeyes went on to win, 5-2.
This year, Allen is 6-0 in singles dual matches and 8-1 overall.
The Buckeyes, now 4-2 on the year, will next hit the courts Feb. 20 when they host matches vs. instate foes Cleveland State and Akron in the Varsity Tennis Center.
